Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Decepticon Review
Do you have what it takes to destroy planet Earth?
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Decepticons brings graphics, sound and gameplay to life on the Nintendo DS. It is the perfect game to show the story of the second Transformers film. Regardless to the type of genre you like on the Nintendo DS, you will enjoy this game.
Graphics and Presentation
The graphics in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Decepticons is in my opinion of a very high quality, of which makes you become part of the game; makes you feel prepared to save the world. The colours are bright and stand out, showing the detail of the graphics vividly. A lot of effort has been put into the graphics to make the detail of both the robots and back drop stand out compared to most Nintendo DS games that you see around today.
The cut scenes of the game consist of smooth transitions, carrying through the great graphics seen in the main game. It follows the storyline of the main movie well, though allowing you to enjoy the game as you play. The cut scenes are short but show you all that you need to see.
Sound
The sound is truly brilliant, with the voiceovers of all the characters being strong, powerful and creating the perfect atmosphere for the game. The soundtrack that plays in the background follows the appeal of the game perfectly and fits with the action and movements of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
Gameplay
Travelling around as a Decepticon or transformed is simple and easy; transforming between these two forms is a quick transition with the press of a button. The game has a good plan, with clear instructions of how to play the game with a decent progression. I found the missions throughout the game get progressively harder and progressively more enjoyable!
A favourite part of the game for me would have to be the ability to choose your object to transform into a certain object and watch you Decepticon change. As you play the game you collect Energons which can be used to upgrade you Autobot, improving its stats allowing you to survive more missions progressing you faster through the game.
During the game, playing as your Decepticon, for me, was more enjoyable than playing as your vehicle as you can perform more actions rather than just driving around or racing for the mission. The Nintendo DS console makes controlling you Decepticon easy, as you use your touch screen for such actions as deciding on your weapon of choice and the control pad for moving and shooting the objects that come into your way.
The touch screen shows you where all of your enemies are in relation to you and where you next check point it, whilst all the main action takes place on the upper screen of the Nintendo DS console. A major downfall for the gameplay is the distance required for you to shoot down your enemy, as sometimes when you try to get close enough to shoot down your enemy you end up getting shot yourself and having to start back at the previous checkpoint.
Though the fun with this game doesn’t stop with just you and your Nintendo DS console as you have the ability to connect with local DS consoles and fight against each other and this addition will have you addicted to this game for many more hours than the single player mode. The entirety of the game will have you hooked until you end up breaking your Nintendo DS console!
Closing Comments
Whether you are talking about the graphics, sound or gameplay of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, the game is practically faultless. With the single player mode creating an atmosphere of what it would feel like to be a Decepticon and the multiplayer modes allowing you to battle your friends as you please, this game is not one you want to miss out on. If you have the guts to have your go at destroying Earth, do not miss out on this game.
